Mission Statement
Highlands Historic Preservation is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the hidden historic and prehistoric treasures of the Lower Hudson Valley region of New York. We work with local community groups and government agencies to identify, research, document, and preserve the unique historic and prehistoric artifacts found throughout the area. By protecting and preserving these important remembrances of the past, the surrounding open space is also protected from activities which may threaten the integrity of the historic/prehistoric site. This benefits all who use these open spaces for recreational purposes, such as hiking, biking, and hunting.
Highlands Historic Preservation is a self-supporting organization, and does not accept outside donations. We emphasize the use of volunteer participation from the local communities to carry out our mission and achieve these preservation goals. We also work with our sister organization, Highlands Preservation, Inc., to promote environmental preservation initiatives that serve to protect both environmental and historic preservation.
